Through my involvement with EAST and journalism, I was very fortunate to work with some incredibly talented students.
Our publications staffs worked hard and dedicated countless hours to make their publications the best in the state. Five of those students were named statewide winners by the Arkansas Scholastic Press Association. The 2011 volume of Excalibur, our school yearbook, was one of seven publications named All-Arkansas by the ASPA. It also received a silver medal from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The 2013 volume of Excalibur was also named All-Arkansas by the ASPA. Our EAST students won the 2009 Founder's Award, which is given annually to the school whose EAST chapter best represents the vision of founder Tim Stephenson. Applicants for the award must provide extensive documentation of their work and provide a video that exhibits the students' projects and community service. |
